January 2021 Recap

There’s no better excuse to leap at new opportunities, try something different, and start new routines than a brand new year to play with. I’ve found a lot of fun and interesting ways to give myself that fresh start feeling this January, and I believe it’s been an overall success.

December 2020 Recap

December is my month of preparation. Everything lingering on the To Do list gets reassessed, rescheduled, or tossed into the reject pile, leaving me with a clean slate and a shiny new set of goals for the new year. I also take some time to reflect on accomplishments, using that as fuel to take on fresh challenges. And I celebrate, because what’s the point if you can’t kick back, have some sweets, and splurge on gifts for the people you love once in a while?

Show & Tell

This weekend I’m participating in #virtuAAL2020, an online artist alley! Peruse and purchase artwork, merch, and other goods created by independent artists and small business owners. There will be sales, short-run items, and other cool specials you’ll want to get in on. It’s a fantastic time to do some early holiday shopping!

Don’t have time to scroll through Twitter? Check out the #virtuAAL2020 directory to quickly find what you’re in the mood to shop for.

Many thanks to the organizer of this event, Becca Farrow! Be sure to check out her work, and give her a shoutout if you enjoy the event.

Merch of the Month

I have a habit of turning hobbies into side hustles, so it’s not surprising that many of the designs I create for BumbleBess.com features my hand lettering.

Kindred Spirit

October’s Merch of the Month pick is in honor of our favorite autumn-adoring heroine, Anne Shirley! This was the first product I added to the shop using this style of varied lettering. It’s a fun and free-spirited reminder to embrace the things that make us unique, because those are the traits that help us connect with others.

Merch of the Month

My love for heroines of classic literature and the art of typography inspired me to open my own shop, BumbleBess.com. Through words and the occasional curlicue, I celebrate favorite heroines like Elizabeth Bennett, Anne Shirley, and Wendy Darling.

Obstinate, Headstrong Girl

This Merch of the Month pick is one I designed before I even knew I would be opening a shop. It was originally created as a gift for my Pride & Prejudice obsessed sister, who is as loyal-hearted, strong-willed, and free-spirited as Lizzie Bennett herself. For all the audacious ladies out there, this is for you.

Merch of the Month

My love for fantastic fiction and gorgeous graphics inspired me to open my own shop, BumbleBess.com. There, I blend all of my favorite things… literary allusions, typographic design, and plenty of good humor.

Read Voraciously, Live Vicariously

Read Voraciously, Live Vicariously

This Merch of the Month pick is one of my personal favorites. The quote “read voraciously, live vicariously” is something I coined myself, inspired by that unique sensation of getting wholly lost between the pages of a good book.

Establishing Your Visual Brand

I had the opportunity to write a guest blog post for Phoenix Fiction Writers. I don’t get to nerd out about graphic design very often, so I really cut loose and had fun with a topic that combines two of my passions: writing and good design!
