Book Review – The Whizz Pop Chocolate Shop

Saunders, Kate - The Whizz Pop Chocolate ShopWhen the Spoffards inherit a candy shop, they never expected to move in. But there’s something magical and mysterious about the old place. Twins, Oz and Lily, aren’t sure what to think, especially when they meet the strange immortal inhabitants of their new home.

Oz wasn’t too scared of rats in general, but this rat was different—it was smoking.

Full of surprises and ridiculous humor, The Whizz Pop Chocolate Shop is a tasty treat that needs to be experienced to be believed. Secret agents, magical chocolate, creepy wallpaper, ghosts, and a very vain cat are just a few of the many highlights offered.

It seemed that the show-off cat had been telling the truth; she really was working for the government.

With all-ages appeal, this story hits a balance of unbelievably hilarious and perfectly magical. It really brings the kid in you back to life. I would happily recommend this to anyone who loves contemporary fantasy or magical realism.
